Nearly 40 Ohio Wesleyan University students traveled to five sites in the United States and Mexico as part of OWU's 2018 spring break Interfaith Service week. During their trips, the teams were guided by the program's "essential pillars" of restorative justice, transformative reflection, substantive community, and conscientious leadership. The students and their faculty-staff advisers traveled to Houston and New Orleans to repair hurricane-damaged homes; to the Lakota Nation in South Dakota to help rebuild Lakota-Anglo relationships and support Native American youth; to Philadelphia to explore multiple faith traditions; and to Mexico to examine the economics of social responsibility and sustainable practices. Congratulations to all involved for a successful week of life-changing learning and service!
As first-year students embark on their college experience, they will all take part in Loyola's living learning program, Messina. The common text for Messina is Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson. The book, a compelling first-hand account of a lawyer who defends the poor and wrongly condemned, speaks to the inequality in the justice system.
Muhlenberg encourages students in every major to study abroad while earning college credit towards their degree. In fact, 52.4% of the Class of 2017our graduates from the studied abroad during their college career. The College supports four discipline-specific study abroad opportunities as well as offering over 100 approved programs in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Latin America and Africa.
On Saturday August 19th, 2017, eight incoming UVM transfer students began their University of Vermont experience as part of Transfer TREK, a unique, 7-day first year enrichment program sponsored by UVM's Department of Student Life. For 38 years, UVM's TREK program has sent new students all over the state of Vermont to explore the region's wilderness, develop leadership skills, and work on community service projects. TREK is one of the biggest and most diverse new-student, collegiate, community building programs in the northeast region.

The award, the NYPA's top collegiate honor, was announced April 8 at the organization's annual convention at the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
